Sometimes what we are doing is not working, but it is hard to admit it. When I was creating my website, things were not going well with the web designer I had chosen. When I would ask for things to be adapted or changed it would take a week and I would only get about 20% of what I asked for. However, there were a few things they had done that I really liked, so I kept trying. I had already invested two months working with them, so I was hesitant to toss the whole thing and start over. I hired some additional outside graphic design to see if that would help, but it didn’t fix the underlying issue: they didn’t have the skills to do what I needed.
After a few months of this, my frustration had mounted to the point that my best option seemed to be to lose all the money and effort I had invested so far and start over. I laid down on my yoga mat, pulled my legs over and behind my head and said to myself, “I am flexible. I can adapt. I can let this go. I trust that I will be able to find and recognize the best solution.” I said it over and over until I believed it. I listened for the ideas that popped into my head. Then I did it. I fired them. That wasn’t easy, but it needed to be done.
We all face situations like this. Deep down we know what we are doing isn’t working, but the process of finding a new solution, starting over, or adapting to a new way of doing things often seems too overwhelming. We stay in our familiar patterns despite the fact that they aren’t bringing the results we want. We may doubt that we can find a better option, or doubt that we can change, or we may even wonder if the problem is really us. But the truth we need is always out there, if we are willing to say, “I am flexible. I am powerful. I can adapt. I can let this go and find a better solution. I trust that I will be led to the people or ideas I need. I can change.”
If your health is not what you want it to be, trust that there is solution. It may require you to change. It may require you to look at things in a completely new way. But it may also open up a world you never knew existed. That has been my experience with healing. Twelve years ago, after six surgeries and endless prescriptions, I admitted that everything I was doing with my health wasn’t working. I had just a tiny bit of exposure to the world of holistic health, but I jumped in and trusted I would be led to the people and ideas that I needed. And I was. I walked into a whole new world. It has been mind-twisting, perspective shifting, and absolutely amazing. It has required me to change dramatically. But it has brought me to people and truths I never had even imagined.
Health is achievable. We do not have to just continue to suffer with the ills that plague us. This world has been created to support us and help us heal. I invite you to see if Simply Divine Eating holds a piece of the puzzle for you. If it does, you will know it. Trust your gut. And no matter what you do, trust that the future holds better and more amazing things for you than you can imagine. Figuratively pull your legs behind your head, be flexible and open, and you will find the answers you need.
