My Story

20 years ago I was stuck.  I had spent decades fighting for my health.  I had been on daily prescriptions for 15 years, had 6 surgeries, and been on aggressive medical treatments that had wrecked my body.  I had sought out the best doctors and done everything they told me to do.  And yet I was still in constant pain and I was getting sicker by the day.  As the millennium turned over in the year 2000 and everyone was celebrating, my mind was overwhelmed by the thought that if I didn’t find a way to turn this around, I wasn’t going to be around much longer.  So I threw myself headfirst into the world of holistic healing.

But here was the surprise: everyone agreed that food was the foundation for healing, but no one agreed on WHAT I should eat.  I had plunged myself straight into the one of the biggest, messiest, most hotly debated questions of our generation: what should I eat?  But I knew that truth is simple, unchanging, and universal, so this mess we called “nutrition” couldn’t be the truth.  I was determined to find the truth at the bottom of the chaos.

So over the next decade I took my chemistry background and my tenacious personality and went to work.  I read everything I could get my hands on.  I went to holistic doctors.  I tried every special diet known to man.  I was shocked by how often I found absolutely opposite (and yet supposedly scientifically-backed) conclusions on what was “healthy.”  Low-fat, high-fat.  Low-carb, high-carb.  Low-salt, high-salt.  You name it, the powers-that-be are out there fighting for the right to tell us what to eat, and no one agrees.  But I found a foundation of truth hiding underneath all the debates that I call the 4 Cornerstones.  That foundation of truth is what Simply Divine Eating is all about.

Now I live a different life.  I am not on any medication.  I am not in constant pain.  I haven’t had a surgery since 2000.  I have been able to watch the lives of my two adopted, special needs kids (both of whom were VERY sick as babies and toddlers) transform before my eyes.  I can’t even remember the last time anyone in my family needed to go to the doctor.  And I LOVE what I eat and I EAT what I love.  I understand how to eat and live in harmony with my body so my body works!  It is so simple.  No more diets, no more debates.  Just lots of health and lots of yummy food.  And I can show you how, because the 4 Cornerstones make it SIMPLE!

Is SDE a Diet?

No!  That word implies exclusion, restriction, and avoidance.  All that is is a recipe for disaster.  SDE is the complete opposite.  It is about coming to understand how your body works and then honoring it while eating food you love.  If you are caught on a roller coaster of eating food that sabotages your health, then trying to repent with restrictive diets and detoxing cleanses, only to start the cycle over again, this is the alternative.  SDE is a joyful, supportive, permanent approach to food.
